 - Can't believe summer is almost coming to a close, and year 2 of vet school is closing in???

- But yes, so it seems. Class schedules have been released (no syllabi, etc, yet). I'm currently back home for a second - my gvt gig orientation is on Monday and Tuesday, and then I'll skitter back up the East Coast for my 2 weeks of employment there.

Been enjoying my time here - I drove back last Friday (with a carful of loot), and spent Saturday in a flurry of activity. Blueberry picking with the fam, hanging out at an arboretum with a friend, unpacking and organizing my belongings and bedroom, doing a ballet barre with a friend, and more. Felt good, although today I was absolutely ZONKED.

Got a lot of good sleep, though! 

I'm trying to process all the personal changes I've undergone this summer (a lot of it internal), while also look forward to this new year - I like the commitments I currently have set up (though am fighting to keep from doing too much). I am surprised by how much of a change these months of...well, not having hecktons to do?-- have changed me. Some of it has been painful and embarrassing, and still in progress - 

 

well gosh if this doesn't encapsulate so much of my existence AUGH

...but also much good, and helpful, and worth it.


- But I like it. I wanna keep the progress I've made. Here's to that.

bugs in the system

...no, literally. In my physical  system at least--don't worry, my computadoras are doing just fine. I'm currently typing this away while slowly on the mend from being rather sick over the past few days. Most likely gastroenteritis (intestinal/stomach infection, occasionally referred to as "stomach flu"), just in a particularly nasty vein. Really not sure where I got it from, to be honest, but..I definitely got it. Kinda shattered my weekend--started feeling kinda slow and down and sluggish and feverish/chilled on Thursday, so I crawled inta bed and...pretty much didn't get out. Except for the very occasional drink of water, and very constant bathroom break. Between the wommitin' (vomiting, sorry, that was a James Herriot reference), dizziness/nausea/pounding headaches whenever I moved, fatigue, muscle spasms/cramping (ok, I guess I'm just going into full-out complaint mode here), loss of appetite, and...um...how shall we say, pyro down under? 😓...it was ...

2024 is here ?!?

  when i tell y'all january has F L E W -  also, happy new year! hard to believe it is the grand year of 2024. the fam and i rung it in with a flourish - invited a bunch of ppl over, cooked a mess of food, and assembled + set afire our 2023 effigy. it was truly an impressive sight, and one we are already planning to improve for next NYE~ also must face the inevitable heffalump in the room - i haven't been on the blog for a hot minute. *shocked gasp from my imaginary cult following* i truly meant to,  i promise! this past year, imma be honest, wound up being way harder than i thought. i feel like i've said that every year, in some form; honest to gosh, though, this one was the hardest. i feel like ive regained a lot of my shape after making it thru (and the Lord has been restoring my soul, true to His form, in ways i hadn't even considered). honestly, i just wanna touch the keys on this blog every monthish, and that's as rigid as i'll consider being.  speaking of...
