Weekly thought/subject (re: brief bit on police/race stuff)

With all that's been going on recently, pertaining to police reactions, shooting questions, racial questions, and societal discussions, this is a bit of something I posted on Facebook; a few articles and notes that I (a) felt really said it well or outlined things in a way I resonated with, and (b) partially to calmly get a few things off of my chest and mind.

Re: what's hot right now (i.e. a few thoughts in light of certain events)...
To cap this off: I'm grieved, worried, and frustrated in many ways over this (and events similar to it)--just as so many of us are. The loss of a human life, injustice, brutality, and the sinfulness and fallenness of our world (and the ways we see this manifested) weigh on my mind at all times (and cost me not a little sleep). Just because I disagree about the solution doesn't in ANY way mean that (a) I'm not concerned or affected, or (b) that I deny that there's a problem that needs action. Nobody can. (and, to be honest, few will)Some of what's going on
Also, four more points:
a) Discussion of issues like this over social media is suboptimal; face-to-face and in person is what we need (but often don't have/avoid, in a social-media isolation age), and what I prefer.
b) As someone who is technically a part of both "races", this puts me squarely on neither side, and makes me want to consider the facts thoroughly even more. Please keep that in mind. (and consider not discrediting opinions based on "experience" or things like that, because it doesn't work)
and
c) Much like in politics, sweeping generalizations of what "the other side" or those we love to argue against, as well as seemingly pithy anecdotes or sharp ripostes--these almost always either harsh and hateful, unhelpful, or make us into the image of what we profess to oppose. For those reasons, I try to avoid this type of thing.
d) There's no hope outside of pursuing the solution to this one of *many* problems without the Gospel. Period. And I won't pretend otherwise. The only way things start to change is through Christ, and especially how we as Christians (and non-Christians) engage.
If you wanna talk more, please, contact me personally, and feel free to do so--in a respectful, honest, and considerate manner. I don't know all the facts, nor does anyone here on the planet, yet. I simply submit this article, which I feel articulates things helpfully. That's all.
