You(I)'ll Be Back π
...Yes, that was a slight Hamilton musical reference. I follow that with a disclaimer: I'm not insane. I just listened to some of the songs from it this week, and I enjoyed a few. Including King George's ballad to his rebellious Americas. Maybe I woulda like British political pop if I wuz alive, then...π

Plus, typing with a double-scoop ice cream in one hand was difficult. Hence, this post was postponed for a few minutes, until said ice cream could be dispatched of. π¦
Anyways, yaaap -- your homegirl has officially moved onto University Property. Whoooaa. Yep, I've been busy, and adjusting to the new surroundings and people (so.many.people.) for my summer school session and stuff. It's been...an adventure. I'm grateful for having roamed here a bit previously, because that gave me a sense of navigation and familiarity at least thus far. Not quite so clueless as I might have been. π
I officially moved in Wednesday -- lots of packing and lugging and stuff to get it all in the car, and then properly navigate here (with help of father). We thankfully had a lot of help -- Le University has their act pretty together with helping newbies, which is nice. Unpacked all of my junk to my liking, where I pleased -- I'm solo (no roommate), which is very much to my liking. On the top floor of dorm, which is also great; I like being up "on the heights", and it's also quite cold temperature-wise up here (which I LOVE). ⛄
(oh, and did I mention there's almost nobody else up here? Having my choice of *all* the showers is a nice treat, I gotta say) π
"Meanwhile other floors complain about waiting to get a scrub?? Oh, ta TA, Charles, what a bore!"

I have to keep thisshorter less long than usual *scoffs*, so here's some rapid fire facts and events about my week:
*I got some school things done. German/French, prep for Biology, a bit of chem. Not much, due to all the transitions and stuff, but something, at least.
*been a bit wibbly wobbly with weight loss -- due to dining and work out changes (plus certain, erm, biological phenomena), more gains in a non-positive way this past week. π I at least have a plan going forward -- and like I said, some of it is waived because of all the so-called upheaval. I got in some balling after all the orientation madness (not much), and a few other workouts on my own. Still, the gym, fitness classes, and stairwells of my dorm will be seeing a lot more work now. I got weight to lose, y'all! π¦πͺ
*I've been making a lot of acquaintances. Not friends, per se; after all, I just got here -- but still, connections are being made on a lot of levels, and it's going well. Pleasantly surprising, the favor of the Lord is. πΈ
*Made it through all of the orientation propaganda (as I call it) -- ok, there is plenty that's educational and actually helpful. Some is just cheesy or trite or wearying (as all college stuff has elements of). Pretty much all of Thursday (from 7 am - 9 pm) and half of Thursday was dedicated to that (and therefore I was kinda exhausted/peopled out). BuT! I made it, so there.
ok I swear I'm not really that salty this just kinda brings it out I guess idk just keep reading I guess
*I did manage to stop by the Homestead, to assuage any concerns of the fam...actually, just to chill. And do some laundry. And drop off/pick up a few items (including my new lAptOp, which I am typing this post on nOw to get accustomed to it. Iz swaggy.). And fluff my kitties, and check on my ducks and garden and yadda yaa, you get the idea. π I also got to swing by The Bonbon's and see her (under the thin veil of a pretense of dropping off some pita bread and flowers). Was rather sweet. I love dat little hedgehog of a babe.
basically her and the bean
(also, yes, I *did* bring her pita and flowers. I didn't just pretend to or something, gosh)
*I watched more Star Trek than usual (some nice TNG, actually), did some art, played guitar and sang a teense, knitted, and did such things. Part creativity, part stress relief, part fun. After all, I *am* allowed to have fun.
fun, u sayy

ANYWAYS AS I WAS SAYING I HAD A LOVELY SUNDAY OKAY
...No, really, I actually did. Went to meet with the church and the Parental Units (and got royally rEKt by a super good sermon), went out to a nice brunch with them afterwards, came back to my dorm and watched a bunch of fun history vids, chilled, and did some planning. Shortly afterwards, I went exploring some sectors of campus (and successfully located my classroom buildings/halls π; then came back to write this up. I have a mandatory floor meeting at 8 (which is soOon), and then I'll likely prep 4 my classes, dash off a semi-quick letter, and get ready for bed.

Things I’d Like But (Probably) Can’t Have (Yet):
Now that I'm away from The Homestead, I'm missing my little old piano. Even though I haven't used it much frequently, now that I'm gone I do. Having it around to play in my dorm would be so stinkin' nice.
*twitches fingers restlessly*
might do piano while at The University, though, so maybe that can be remedied
Brain Fruit:
Yours truly was reflecting on the somewhat of a "legacy" she has the ability to continue -- what with my grandfather starting out as a starving teen from Martinique in NYC, barely able to speak anything besides French -- and going to college and working his seat off and getting a scholarship and becoming an engineer and so many inCREdiBLE things I should've known more about before he left this earth. My grandmother -- a woman with an incredibly damaged past and almost no family or normality, yet became NYC's first afro-american female detective/police officer, a woman of esteem and vivacity, and raised kids. One of whom was my mother -- who, against all odds and everything from racism to dangerous personal choices and many different schools, became an incredible OBGYN doctor and professor and mother.
My dad's story is incredible, too -- and I'm leaving out so many details from both of these -- but I truly have some incredible things in my past. God's handwriting has been there, and I really suddenly...appreciate that. π

My most recent "put on repeat at full volume" song is Owl City's new cover of "Waving Through a Window", from the musical "Dear Evan Hansen". I love both HIS COVER

Somethin Oo Occured:
This past Friday, I dropped in at my dorm's weekly cookout. And, guess what? I had a really good time. I ate more hot dogs than I would care to list, chatted it up with some fine people, sketched some pencil art, met some cool individuals, and...played 2 hours or so of sand volleyball. It was a lotta fun, and I'm glad I had such a sweaty, laughter-filled time. πΆπͺπππ
--Also, afterwards, I ended up in a room talking with some fellow athletes/summer-starters, while the gremlins movie was playing in the background. Looked up when we heard especially loud screaming from those watching it. Quite an interesting time. π

So, yeah. First blog post from my newest situation. It's an adventure -- as this life always is with God. A lot of change in the breeze; for once, though, I'm looking more forward to it. π
Time to sign off. Gotta get through my bedtime routine, and prepare for classes tomorrow. Official start of those, yup yup.
